25:01 (subbed 4 rounds, 35 tuck jumps for DUs, 25 K2Es, 95# overhead walk; Avg.HR=163, Calories=387)

Couldn't push out the 5th round (more like didn't think there was any point). My K2Es just fell off. The overhead walk wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. My hangover is glad this is over.

subbed 115# for 185#
all else as Rx'd

5 Rds
24:52

This one was tough. The KTE were killing my arms by the the end of the third round. The walking wasn't as hard as i thought it was going to be but i know i couldn't have done 185#.

I'm with you on the walking part. I think I could have done 135# if we didn't have to turn 180 degrees twice to complete each set of 20 yards.

I stopped after the 4th essentially because of the K2Es. Those fuckers are just hard.

My rings come today. I'm hoping to try and do seated muscle-ups for the next WOD. If that doesn't work out, I thought I'd either do squat muscle-ups or sub one ring chin-up and one ring dip for every muscle-up. Matt, if I recall correctly, you made some rings. Any suggestions on the best starting progressions for working towards the muscle-up?

Did hanging knee raises. What a bitch, could only get 4 rounds done. At the end I was pulling out 1-2 per rep and I knew I would be there for another 20min if I did not just quit. I think lifting higher weight above my head would not have been bad.

Sorry, I was late on checking posts so I posted to the old message first.

Anyway, I think for me the best starting position for MU progression was on the knees sitting on my legs underneath me. From here it was easier for me to work on the different stages of the muscle up (eg. pull, transition, etc) and use my toes on the ground for support until I made it through the transition.

All that said... I have never done a muscle up on rings only on a bar Wink My "homemade" rings are actually flat-ish at the part you grab (not round like a ring) and it makes the transition very difficult. Also, I don't have a tall enough place that I can affix the rings to do finish out the dip. I should just man up and buy a set but meh...

Are you pretty shaky starting out? When I first started to do ring dips it was like there was an earthquake going on.

Earthquake is putting it mildly. From what I can gather, it's less about being weak but more about the muscles learning which ones should be firing.
